What age can my baby start signing?
Babies can start signing as early as 6 months old, when they begin to understand and mimic gestures.
Do I need prior ASL experience?
No prior ASL experience is needed! My classes are designed for beginners and offer step-by-step guidance.
Are classes suitable for all babies?
Yes! My classes are suitable for all babies, as signing can benefit any child’s communication skills.
I want to invite you to the My Baby Can Sign! class which will be offered online. You can attend before your baby is born, or afterwards... but it's actually better if you attend before. That way, you'll have everything set when your baby arrives. The bottom line is: IT'S NEVER TOO EARLY, NOR TOO LATE to start to learn how to enhance your communication with your sweet baby!
After teaching this beautiful way to communicate to all five of my children, I can not express enough what a blessing it was to be able to understand what my daughters and my son were needing and wanting from me before they could speak... and even more so after my son was diagnosed with Autism! It has been an amazing journey of teaching them to sign since they were infants. Here are just two of their stories:
Meet Baby Alexa (pictured here at 11 months old): She started signing at only 5 months, the youngest signer in our family. She was talking and reading at what most would consider a "young age," but I find that a lot of people underestimate the learning capabilities of these little geniuses, & like her 3 older sisters, she surpassed a spoken and Sign vocabulary of over 200 words by her first birthday.

Meet baby Ethan (pictured here at 19 months old). It is not uncommon for boys to begin processing language at a different time frame than girls. His first sign was "milk" at 11 months old, but then - oh my! He very quickly began soaking up words left and right!! He developed a spoken, signing and reading vocabulary of well over 300 words by 24 months.
He could read, say, sign, and finger spell his own first name. He could recite the alphabet and the sounds the letters make (where applicable) in English, American Sign Language and in Hebrew! He recognized, read, vocalized and signed: The days of the week, Colors, Seasons, Shapes, Sports words, Foods, Numbers (up to 20 unassisted, and 60 with help), and so much more!
In my 4-week My Baby Can Sign class, you will learn a little over 100 words to teach your baby at your, and his/her own pace. You will have the resources to help you remember how to execute the signs and track your Little One's progress.
